First thing you do when you get in the car….put on your seat belt and adjust all of the mirrors.Forget to do those and you’ll be docked serious points.

Remember to disengage the parking brake before you put the car in drive.

Now just do what the nice man with the clipboard tells you.

DO NOT ask him what he’s writing each time he whips out his pen! Not everything he writes down is a mark against you. Most of what he’s putting ink to are little squares that say things like..

1. “Uses turn signals properly” Check!

2.”Uses mirrors before changing lanes” Check!

3.”Observes posted speed limits” Check!

4.”Refrained from using stereo during driving test” Check!

5.”Resisted urge to drive through puddle in order to splash pedestrians” Check!

Don’t be nervous. You probably already know more about driving than you realize.Think about it.Did anyone ever have to tell you what red, yellow, and green lights mean? Probably not. You’ve most likely spent a great deal of time in a car as a child, and children are very observent. You probably knew from just watching that red lights mean stop, and green lights mean go.Yellow lights are another story.Depending on your parent’s driving habits a yellow light might mean “jam on the brakes” or it might mean “stomp the gas”.For your driving test we’ll say that a yellow light means that you should prepare to come to a stop…unless it happens to turn yellow just as you’re coming up on it.Then it’s OK to go through.

Just remember…

1.Seatbelt (ask the tester to strap his on too if he hasn’t already! Refuse to move if he doesn’t comply!)

2.Adjust your mirrors and your seat.

3.Don’t do ANYTHING else until the tester asks you to.

4.When asked to proceed remember to release the parking brake, assuming that you’ve already started the engine.Do that first.

5.Use your turn signals!

6.Pay attention to the speed limit!

7.Hopefully you have practiced parallel parking. This is one of the harder parts of the test.

8.Be mindful of pedestrians.

9.REMAIN CALM! DO NOT PANIC!

Good luck!

Just try to relax as much as you can. I took my first driving test when I was 25 and was going to work for the post office! If you drive as if you are the world’s most courteous driver–in other words, if your instinct is to drive aggressively, do the opposite!–you will be fine. Obsessively check your mirrors before backing up or parking. Go a bit below the speed limit.

I failed my test the first 2 times because of nerves!

I got myself so worked up,that i just started crying uncontrollably and wasn’t fit to drive,so the test had to be stopped half way though!

I finally passed a third time though.

It’s actually not that scary, and i feel stupid now, even though that was 6 years ago.

You just have to think…ok,this person wants to see how awesome i can drive,so i’m gonna show them!

Just think of it as a driving lesson too.

And just concentrate on the out-come,the freedom you’ll have once you pass and get your license.

Good luck! x

Hi, Try not to rush what you are doing, while driving. Don’t doubt your-self to much, try to go for a safe but positive drive, slow right down for emerging at junctions, with effective observation, selecting the correct gear. Good Luck

Remember 1st thing to do .. You will fail if you don’t.. Put on your seat belt. My friend failed because of this. Don’t worry, they know you are nervous. Just take deep breaths and focus. Make sure you stop completely at all stop signs. You will do great.

Just pretend the person is giving you directions to get somewhere. Take it as it comes, the more you freak out the worse it will be. You know how to drive so then relax it will all be okay.

I hit a car on my driving test and still passed!! I more or less rolled into it because the guy was on my bumper at a stop sign, but I still hit him.

You’ll do fine. And if not, then you can take it again 🙂

dont be nervous!!! number one thing. when you are nervous you make more mistakes. Also when I was backing up parallel to the curb I accidentally hit it! but it was okay because i had done well on the rest of the test. so don’t freak out if you make one mistake

Heres the thing, those instructors don’t even want to be there so baring hitting something you will pass.
