Do i have to take the TOEFL to go to college???

i have been in the US for 4 years and im a senior in highschool right now…i took the SAT once and i didn’t score really well on it, especially the English part…so my counsoler said i should take the TOEFL…since the TOEFL is pretty hard just like the SAT, i dont see anypoint why i should take the TOEFL……must i take the TOEFL to go to college?…..if i can’t go to the University, i wouldn’t mind to go to community college…

No if you have attended an American school for at least 2 years, then you shouldn’t have to take the TOEFL. Also, if your ACT English/Reading scores are high, you shouldn’t have to take it either.

the TOEFL is to test people who have English as a Second Language. Colleges will require it if you believe you are not fluent, to know your strengths in several categories. Read a test prep book about the test beforehand so you will know how to study.
