Are these final grades for the year or just 9 week grades (or 6 week or whatever kind of calender system your school uses for report cards)? Most transcripts that colleges see will only show your overall grade for the course. So, if you end up making a B for your final grade in PE, it won’t matter to a college that you made a D for your first 9 weeks grade because they probably won’t even see that grade. Also, I must point out that, even though your entire transcript is evaluated, many colleges take several things into consideration when deciding whether or not to accept a student (i.e. how many days of school you missed, what courses you chose to take, your final GPA, what extracurricular activities you participated in, etc.)

It depends on the university, on the grading standards in your school (rank in class is much more important than GPA) and what classes you took (lower grades can be compensate for by taking a harder schedule, although the most competitive schools want high grades and a hard schedule). Also, freshman year is the least important for college applications. Showing improvement is almost as good as starting out with high grades.

Don’t retake classes where you got a C. It draws more attention to the C, and makes it look like you’re just trying to boost your GPA instead of trying to learn something.

Somewhat its the C that will hurt you what high school makes you take 8 classes most are the standard 6 maybe 7. Just work on your grades next year, colleges really don’t look at your freshman year.

Well it’s okay. But if you wanna apply for an university then no they’re not good. Colleges don’t accept no C’s & lower. You should have at least a 3.0 & above. Another advantage to get into an university is being involved in sports & clubs & all that other extra activities.
