Well when I was choosing a major in college, I wanted one where I could teach.. but not just regular teaching. And I wanted one where I could help others.. but nothing like nursing. Special education seemed like the perfect combo of both! Teaching and helping! yay! 🙂

I was a Teacher Assistant in a school for children with physical disabilities and realized that I never wanted to leave. I had a Bachelor’s Degree at the time and went back for a Masters in Special Ed. Now, I am teaching SpEd Health and I love it!!!! And…going for my 2nd Masters in Health Ed.

I went back to college after first having a extremely efficient profession interior the finance and private loan industry and then being a stay at domicile mom. So being a particular ed instructor is my third profession, in an attempt to talk. As i replaced into finding and gaining knowledge of colleges i replaced into torn between getting yet another bachelor’s in common training or a Masters specifically Ed. I chosen particular training as i wanted a profession with no longer basically a paycheck yet a objective. and that i’m no longer choosing on different professions, I merely know me and that i prefer a objective. training isn’t for each individual and particular training is in no way for each individual. I do sense i’m a affected person individual and after subbing the two as a instructor and as a paraprofessional i found out that i’d desire to try this artwork and that i had to this artwork. My maximum memorable 2d (and that i’ve got various) is whilst a pupil isn’t information something and you have tried various interventions and on the 5th or 6th attempt she or he gets it!

When I was a child, I suffered severe abuse and I struggled in school. Because I had a fairly high IQ, I was called lazy and stubborn. I began acting out because of the rage inside me. No one ever asked me why I was acting that way.

I went into special ed because I wanted to be the one person in a child’s life to ask the question, “Why are you hurting so badly and how can I help?”

Because my son was diagnosed with autism. After seeing him in special ed for 3 years, and seeing the miracles they did with him, I wanted to help do that for someone else!

I chose the field because I was told there was nothing wrong with my son so I educated myself in order to fight for him. He has autism. I also wanted to be in this field to make sure other parents don’t get the run around like I did. I can be on both sides of the IEP meetings.

To help kids who really needed it.
