When sending something through the postal service to another country does postage cost more?

Letters and holiday cards is what I’m sending and I’ve never sent anything to another country before.

Yes, just take your envelopes to the Post Office with you and they will tell you what you need or you can go online to http://www.usps.com/

and on the page their is a link to calculate postage, jsu tclick on that and there will be an option for international rates…It might be easier to just do this online if you already have postage on hand.

I’m sure the costs differ due to, at least, the longer distance the mail must travel, but if you want to get an idea on the amount of postage that may be needed use the following link for a quick calculation.

69 cents to Canada and Mexico for cards uner one ounce and 90 cents to all other countries from the USA.

We have those stamps at the post office or you can use the stamps you have as long as it equals or exceeds the above fees.

They should add something. Each country has their rates. The post office wouldn’t ask for the destination when they were tabulating the cost if it didn’t matter.
