What are the advantages to taking an academic or advanced course?

I excell in math, a lot! and i’m not sure if i want to take it as an academic course in high school though, what are the advantages and disadvantages to taking an academic or advanced course?

Advanced classes look better on your transcript for college, and gives you a higher GPA, like if you got a B in an advanced class, that’s the same as getting an A in an academic course. Take the advanced math course if you excel in math because you’ll be able to handle the work!
