Yes its possbile. There are many homes out there for children with autism. I have worked in many of them around where i live. Go talk to your local social services. Most of the time it is when the parents rights have been severed, but you can keep your guardianship over the child while there in it..

There are some residential facilities, but they are exspensive. For your insurance to pay anything, you would need the recommendation of your doctor and the school district stating that he needs the full time care of a live in facility. Even with all of that, most places have waiting lists..many families end up having to look out of state.

If you are truely considering this, the first thing to do is meet with his teachers and his pediatrician. Find out what programs they may be able to suggest and what other options there may be…getting more in home services, respite care, etc. You should also check with your insurance company to see what they would require. Be prepared…many do not offer any coverage and there are many cases where parents have ended up turning the kids over to the state to get Medicare to pay for these placements. I only advise that as a last resort, if it is truely impossible to keep your child home any longer.

Making the choice to place a child is residentail treatment is emotional and often filled with many conflicting opinions. Only you can decide what you and your family can handle any longer. My only advice is to make sure this is really what is best for everyone.

anybody could have autistic babies, for the traditional inhabitants and not using a family individuals historic previous its a pair of a million% threat. using fact of your bf’s brother, it extremely is an bigger threat, in spite of the undeniable fact that very very small. Geneticists and neurologists have instructed me (mom to an autistic toddler) that the probabilities are high bigger for yet another by way of 3-8%. as a result your threat of having an autistic toddler with your boyfriend are bigger than a million% yet under 3-8%.

Depends on his age and other factors.

I also don’t think a child with autism can have ADHD, as sensory issues are obvious.

What is getting worse about him? Stimming? Aggression?

It’s obviously a family decision. But I would say no. There are other options.

Probably not unless you have a ton of money to pay for his care. Otherwise, the doctor will just prescribe some medications that will help his behavior. You should call a social worker in your state. Sometimes they have ideas on what you can do. Good luck.

NO! you have to do your best to work with him. try to have him interact with children without autism. Then he may copy his peers. Children tend to copy the things they see their peers doing. Try to get in touch with a doctor that can help. There are many exercises that you can do with your child to make him improve socially and make his behavior better.

only in the most sever cases talk to his docter, your local autistic group and kids school. there might be a program that can be set up to help him

Annie’s answer is excellent – I can’t think of anything to add to it.
