Getting kicked out of college for being sick!?

I was out of class for a few weeks for an illness that almost resulted in surgery, however i did stay in contact with my teachers the whole time and have made up the work i even went to the dean to speak with him about the class i had missed and he just yelled at me and told me that i should just drop out and that i probably couldnt do the college work anyway, I have been on the deans and presidents list so im fully capable of doing the work, he also refused to honor the doctors note that said i couldnt attend class during that time and told me that he didnt care if i was sick or even in the hospital and told me that if i missed some more class even if it was for going to the doctor or being in the hospital that he was going to kick me out….what can i do legally….I work really hard and ive made up all my work…..what can i do, my family lives a really long way and i wont have anywhere to go…..

Your school sucks. At my university, they didn’t even keep track of attendance (most universities don’t).

If the college is giving you a scholarship they can take that away. But they can’t kick you out if you are paying, unless you do something criminal.

Whatever
Pay the school president a visit personally. If the school president refuses to do anything about this situation, get in touch with your state representative.

In the meantime, prove to these *ssholes that you can do the work. Try to make your doctor’s appointments during the time you don’t have any classes. Pull my trick, attend classes even if you have the flu and is running a 102 degree fever. If everyone in this school comes down with the flu, than oh well. I’ve pulled this very same trick before and gave the flu to about half of my co-workers at one time because of this very same attitude that my co-workers and supervisors had. Paybacks are hell. Maybe next time the school officials won’t be such big *ssholes toward people who have were out because of medical conditions.

As soon as I can, I would transfer into another school and tell these *ssholes where they can stick their attendance policy even if it means transferring to another school that is hundreds of miles away.

I agree that if you are receiving a schlorship from the school itself, attendence can be part of keeping the schlorship. However, if you are paying privately or getting funding from other areas, that should not be the case. The very first thing to do is to a copy of the school polcies and practices. There should be some section dealing with extended abscences. There should also be information on how to address complaints about the school administration and who to address them to. Follow the directions exactly as they are given, including sending them with signed confirmation of deilivery if possible. Also, if your parents have been involved in any of this, they should also file a complaint. I would also suggest you speak to the student government and see if they can provide any assitance. If you followed the school protocals, kept up your work and grades and do not recieve funding that requires you to meet certain attendance levels, you have the basis for a very valid complaint.

don’t miss any more classes. show your teachers your tough.

breath-relax. life goes on without school. miss work and they fire you regardless of your excuses. stop whining and go to class. if you get sick again-it just wasn’t ment to be.

no one on a deans list gets kicked out-relax

be true to yourself.
