Does anyone know of any alternative education programs for teen?

I have a 16 yr old in the Philadelphia school district. He has a learning disability and has been in programs since he was in 2nd grade. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t do the work and fails his classes which is not helping his self confidence. He is being pushed threw the system. It has gotten to the point where he doesn’t want to go to school. I have tried so many different ways and been to the school last year to get him to stay. I don’t think we can handle the next 3 yrs and I refuse to let him just quit and be a bum. I have been in contact with the school district and can’t seem to get help.

So my question is does anyone know of any alternative education programs for 16 yr olds with learning disabilities in the Philadelphia area?

If you were in contact with the school district, how could you not get help? You need to ask them why the school won’t send your son to a special school. If they said it’s because he is succeeding. Then there is your answer.

you sound like a great parent, keep being positive! I needed help in school too, but there were programs designed for that situation. It was embarrassing when I was in school going to “those” classes but it helped. The school doesn’t offer any one on one help, or classes? I’d look for a school that does in you area, there has to be one. Otherwise, would you ever have him home schooled?? That could really help him, but make sure he stays social w/ his friends. The school he’s attending now should offer alternatives, otherwise I don’t think it’s a great school. Don’t give up, and good luck. Hope this helps….
