When using parenthetical notation, does it have to be an exact quote?
From Jon Butler’s “Becoming America” I have written that:
“Their duties [women’s] could include cooking, cleaning, preserving food, making clothing, milking cows and managing orchards” (Butler 54).
The exact text says:
“In the household, women cooked and cleaned, preserved food, and made clothing. They also milked,”
Farther down the page:
“Women usually managed orchards…”
Thanks, sorry if my question is confusing. =D
