And a lot of it is just pointless bullsh*t. Actually, a lot of school is pointless bullsh*t. In addition the the material, you’re also being taught to follow instructions without questioning, to not stand out, to be a good worker, and to not make trouble for those above you.

When I was in high school, I felt it was my job to distill and retain the useful parts and ignore the rest. I took a lot of flak for this. It drove my parents crazy because I would get As or Bs on tests and Cs or Ds on my report card.

If that sounds like you, you should look into alternative schools, or even homeschooling or unschooling. The thought of leaving the standard educational path might seem strange or scary. Looking back now in my 20s, though, I consider that whole portion of my life to be almost wasted. I wish I’d gone for it back then, because I’m just making up for it now.

One of the biggest lessons in Mathematics was that if you don’t do the homework, you’re pretty much screwed. It’s practice.

When you do the homework it makes it so much easier to get A’s without having to cram a whole semester’s worth of work a night before the finals.

Stop complaining and go do your homework.
