Actions speak louder than words

One example: You can love someone but treat them like crap. In that case the fact that you treat them like crap says more about how you feel than saying that you love that person.

Seeing is believing and faith is believing without seeing

A lot of people can’t accept something as fact without actually having (seeing) it proven to them. Faith is when you believe in something that no one can actually show you. Faith mostly refers to religion, but also applies to things like love and trusting someone not to hurt you.

It means -what someone does (how they act, the decisions they make) carries more weight than what they say. For example, “I believe in helping the poor,” is an admirable statement. However, if the same person is observed NOT helping the poor, etc, then their “actions” have outweighed their “words.”

Consequently, using the same example:

Believing that te above person “helps the poor” prior to seeing their actions would be “faith” based. You have no empirical proof that they do, in fact, help the poor.

If you observe this person (action) help the poor, or conversely not help the poor, then your view is now “seen” and therefore easily believed; e.g.: no longer “faith” based.

It does not always hold true that the situation spoken of and “seen” or not seen must contradict; just that witnessed evidence of action provides more concrete evidence of actual behavior than does acceptance on face value.

Hope that helps.
