It means that true courage is born from acting in spite of fear. Not to ignore fear, or pretend fear does not exsist. Not to be oblivious to fear, but to knowingly act in spite of it.

If you aren’t afraid of something you aren’t being courageous by facing it… if you aren’t afraid of spiders then it’s no big deal to kill one.

If you are afraid of spiders and you face the fear and deal with it, then you are being courageous. you are resisting the fear and mastering it, not letting fear control you.
