When somebody hates something with a passion, it means there is a deeper meaning and reasoning as to why they hate it. Try asking whoever uses this sentence “Why?”. They will most likely give you a well thought out response.

It means that the person does not like, at all, whatever they are speaking of.
If they say, ‘I hate eggs with a passion.’ They are certainly not going to be eating eggs and they more than likely had a bad experience with them. Like were sick, tried to eat eggs and then threw them up. So the thought of eggs to them is really not a good one.
