Consider the number of ideas that you have and how many of them are not good, mediocre, so so, pretty good, or nothing new.

Now let’s take an inventor like Alexander Graham Bell or perhaps Henry Ford. Then let’s take a scientist like Madame Curie or Joseph Salk.

Each of them probably had more than a thousand ideas and only one turned out to be really good.

The point of this quote is to praise both the evidence of an active mind and the process of innovation. It is better to have an active mind that fails than a dull that does nothing.

It means that ideas are easier to think up but really good ideas are one in a thousand. So you can’t expect all ideas to be successful.

Thomas Eadison (sorry about my spelling) when asked if his 2000 falures making a lightbulb discouraged him said, “I did not fail, I found out 2000 ways not to make a lightbulb.”

Getting an idea is not important as anyone can have thousands of ideas.the important thing is gettinng an idea that works because it is thebiggest challenge.

a thousand “ideas” would never be “good”, unless a single one has become “real’, no matter how simple it is.

because to have an idea is very easy indeed. but to have an idea that works…… thats a different story. you gotta be lucky for that.
