Stay home Mom & College Student……finding work from home?

I don’t know what other category to post this question in…….

But, I’m a stay home mom of two, and I’ve also been taking online college courses since Dec. 2006. I was wanting to know if anybody knew or had any idea’s about any type of job that I could do from home to make a little extra money. I want to find something REALIBLE that I can do from home to make some money. Any ideas?

Questions about work at home always attract scam artists telling you to visit their site where you can make easy money or buy into a franchise business, and they always say “This is a legitimate site”

First, inventory your skills and identify the skills you could use working at home. For instance, accounting, word processing and editing can easily be done at home. Then, look at sites for free-lance workers. Take a look at guru.com and elance.com There are lots of categories from graphic art, editing, word processing, technical writing and so on.

You could also look at craigslist for your city under Jobs and check the telecommute box.

I knew a couple of people who worked at home with insurance claims. One woman had worked for a major insurance company and was resigning to be at home with her kids, they asked if she would be open to working at home on a pt basis. Some of her work involved interviewing clients, but most was paperwork and at the computer. She made a good salary because of her experience and familarity w/ the company.

Being able to motivate yourself is critical for the work at home employee. In an office situation, you have a supervisor and co-workers who motivate you to complete your work but when you are working at home, you only have yourself to push you to succeed. Maintaining a professional attitude is also important for the work from home employee. If you have frequent client interactions, be careful to answer the phone or respond to their emails in a professional way.
