i agree completly, also anger, i think anger shows ones weakness as well. though we mostly think being emotional is indication of weakness, but somehow after expressing emotions like crying we always feel better but after showing anger or rudness we feel worse!

Well, Barbie, I guess I just am not with your group tonight. I cannot agree with this quote–it is much too cynical for such a joyful person as I am.
Rudeness is a personality characteristic shared by many–men, women and children–and does not necessarily have anything to do with weakness. Certainly there are some who try to cover their weaknesses or incompetence with rudeness, but far more rudeness is a consequence of vanity, poor upbringing, ignorance or just plain meanness. I do not know much about Eric Hoffer, but if this quote is representative of the sorts of things he says, he is much too cynical for my taste.

When a man is weak, he tries to hide that by seeming rude. It is basically one’s way of hiding their insecurities.
