Did you move out once you graduated college?

If so, how old were you and how far away did you move from home?

I moved out after high school in my first year of university – solely because I was 17 (and the age to get a license where I live is 18) and I didn’t want to commute 3 hours each way, everyday to uni. I lived on campus and was only a 45 minute – 1 hour drive away from my parents. It was hard at first (getting used to not having my mum doing my laundery and home cooked meals etc) but it was a lot of fun! Plus my parents supported me a lot when it came to rent, bills, food money etc.

In my second year of uni I transferred to a uni in Tasmania, which is an island below the Australian mainland. I was 18 and moved across with my partner. Now it’s a 1 hour flight home or 12 hour boat ride (plus 4 hours travel time from Hobart to Devenport where the boat leaves).

Once I finally graduate, I’ll probably move back to my home state but I don’t think I’ll live with my parents – I like the freedom that living away from home offers, however I think I will live somewhere closer so I can see them more often.

I moved out shortly after high school. I moved about 2000 miles away, got married, and started my life. Now about 6 years later, still married and started college last year.

Edit:

Wow i get a thumbs down because i have a happy marriage. And a successful college student. As well as my husband by the way.

I moved out when I was still in High School.

About 120 miles.

(Yes I stayed in school, and kept a job)
