Can anyone explain/clarify/give their opinion on this quote for me?

“What is history to me? Mine is the first and only world.”

-Wittgenstein

Any insight whatsoever would be very much appreciated.

to me…it sounds like the person is saying that he wants to focus on his own life rather that the lives of those before him. he wants to make his own history whether it be a repeat in our history or something completely new.

I should probably pass on this one because I’m not familiar with it, but it sounds to me as if he/she is content within his/her own skin and environment; therefore, whatever has occurred in other times and places seems insignificant. I think historical events are fascinating and totally relevant to my personal life experiences, but to each his own. Another famous guy said, “To thine own self be true.”
