The sciences are I believe are must take courses. You must be especially good at physics and mathematics, and have a technical and mechanical inclination. I would also suggest taking flying lessons and then getting a flying certificate or related credentials. It is a very difficult field to get in, and many must work in related aeronautical and aviation fields for a long period of time in order to get a step in. You should have at least a masters degree in order to be considered. The average age for an astronaut is probably in the mid thirties.
