the killer killing a defensless girl in a misty forest, then flashing back to the killers childhood, showing what made him like that. then it shows the killer walking out of the forest towards his home, where he is all alone and cut off from society.

A flashback to the psycho killer’s childhood…either illustrating his growing crazy behavior (i.e., torturing a puppy, whatever) or something that happened to him as a child that led to him being crazy later in life.
