You need to take the college prep track. This usually consists of 4 years of English, 4 years of math, 2or more years of science and foreign language. There might be other reuirements as well for your state. Your school counselors should be able to give you more info.

If you miss something in high school , you can usually make it up at Jr. College before transfering to a 4 year college.

Generally there are not really any specific classes in high school that one would take to become a teacher. The important thing is to get your diploma and make good grades so that you can get into the college or university you would like to attend.

At the university, you would decide what type of teacher you want to be and that would determine your major. Elementary teachers usually major in Interdisciplinary studies or something simliar to this. Secondary teachers major in the area they are planning to teach and they take Education courses that are designed to train them to be certified to teach in your state.

Of course there are some high schools that offer special courses for students who want to explore teaching as a career. If you have such courses, take advantage of them so you can figure out early in your career if teaching might be a career that will suit you.

Best of luck to you.

Hi there. Focus on college prep. classes. You might want to talk to a counselor at school to find out which college or universities around your area or where you plan on going to college has really exemplary Education (Teacher training) Programs. Then, get on the web and look at their requirements. For example, you may need foreign language or psychology classes. If you take a language in high school, you might can take a test and not have to take it in college. The psychology class (if required in college) would give you a strong background in it should you have to take it in college. Plan ahead and definetly pick a college and look at the classes needed. (Then, pick electives accordingly.)

Hope these ideas help you out! Best of luck this year!
