If you’re going into certain fields, like psychology, statistics would be more helpful. It all depends on what field you are planning on going into on which class will be more helpful to you.

From my experience, the actual classes you take in high school do little in helping you to get into a college. So just take the courses you feel will benefit you more.

If possible take both!

I would suggest that you go with the AP Calculus course if you have to take only one. The stats class can always be taken in college and a calculus based stats course is much better than an algebra based course. I would also suggest that when getting into college you go ahead and retake calculus. It will help with the transition and will help you learn the concepts.

Both courses are very important but in the big picture. Depending on your major and career field will determine which is more important to you. But like I said, a good stats course uses calculus so you might want to start there.

good luck!

First, determine the kind of problems you may be dealing with in your future occupation. For example, if you are planning to enter the business field, AP Statistics may be more useful to you on a daily basis and on your resume. On the other hand, Calculus may be more suitable for someone requiring knowledge of operations in the natural or physical sciences.

AP AB Calculus. By taking it you can test out of taking a Calc class in college, you can’t do something like that with AP Stats.

If you’re going to study business, take statistics; if you’re going into engineering or the sciences, take calculus.
