Sound is a perception. Sound is the interpretation by living beings of vibrations that are within a certain range of frequency. Vibration alone is not sound. It requires a hearer to be considered a sound. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there, the trees creates a vibration. If someone is there, the tree creates a vibration, the vibration strikes their eardrums and their brain interprets the feeling as sound.
