Nerd refers to somebody who passionately pursues intellectual or esoteric knowledge or pastimes rather than engaging in social life, such as participating in organized sports or other mainstream social activities. The Merriam-Webster definition is an “unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person: especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits.” While Nerd, Dork and Geek share in passionate pursuit of detailed knowledge, the Australian colloquialism dag shares the association with the unfashionable and socially inept with the added feature of being affable and amusing. A nerd is often excluded from physical activity, and is often considered a loner by peers.

Here’s the official deffinition of “nerd” from my dictionary:

-an intelligent but single minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit

or can also mean

-a prejudice of all ppl that wear glasses

or

– unattractive/stupid/boring

or just

-a person that lacks skill in certain activities/does certain things in a weird way

well a nerd is someone who only revolves their life around school and work and someone who likes a mathematical challenge……but you know what i dont believe in nerds my friends call me a nerd because i love math and reading but i just say when im older im gonna be a rich nerd..

Being a nerd isn’t specifically a bad thing.
When I hear the word ‘nerd’, I think of a person that is:
Smart/intelligent
Introverted and shy
Not social

But others consider nerds to be unpopular, too studious, dull and foolish.

But thinking that way is not very nice.
If you think you are a nerd, don’t be upset about it. It could be a good thing! ???

geeks are considered smarter. geeks love science. nerds love science-fiction. kinda like that.

Its a person who is hooked to something technically it doesn’t have to be academics but it could be video game nerd so you could be a video game nerd !!!

nerds are like geeks they dont do anything with girls they stay at home playing dungones and dragons and runscape (no offense)

a nerdy person does a lot of school work and computer stuff which is good but sometimes dumb people make fun of them. its a dumb american thing 🙂
