What goes on in the first day of high school?

I mean in the classes and such, do we start doing lessons or is that usual crap where everyone gets to learn about each other (I really hate doing that…).

This was last week…

We got syllabuses in EVERY CLASS, which must be signed by you and at least one guardian. There were some boring speeches about what will go on in the class, where to find your grades, don’t be tardy, etc. We also checked out books.

We did not have a Pep Rally of any sort. Each teacher did their own thing; some gave out homework and were full force on the first day, others took the first day as a blow off so to speak.

Congrats on going to high school- so far it’s been fun for me.

Oh, and we did nothing to learn about each other- which is extremely hard when you know very few names. It was just a lot of expectations for the class and homework.

Also, keep in mind that every school is different.

In my highschool, we were assigned a home room class for the first day and we would stay in there a couple of hours and get all the important papers, like the school handbook, the information card for the school nurse, our schedules, etc. Then after that we would go to our classes. They would be cut short from the regular schedule because of home room. The teachers would pass out classroom rules and syllabuses and sometimes even the textbooks. If there was time we would have to do some kind of activity to get to know each other which usually by the time you get to high school, you know alot of people already. Just don’t be nervous and be straight to the point and get your information out there. Good luck!

I’m guessing your school would probably have a Pep Assembly or Pep Rally. Then all of your teachers will have to explain how their classrooms are run, give out their syllabuses, and do the (as you say) “Learn about eachother crap”.

usually you get handed syllabuses and a bunch of paperwork to sign. the first week you pretty much just relax. in math you might start doing work the first week though.

but you wont find yourself having to tell everyone about yourself; that’s elementary school stuff. no one really wants to learn about other people; the teachers just get on with what they have to do.

i had a pep rally and a dance on my first day of high school.
