What can I do about not being able to use my personal laptop at high sch. to take notes, it is req. at college

Its ridiculous…i have terrible handwriting and dyslexia…i NEED the freaking spellcheck…why are high schools so far behind colleges in terms of tech…i would be chastised for using it…but at the college where i do dual-credit for high school…it is absolutely required to bring a computer daily…its ridiculous…i go back and read my notes and i takes forever because of my output-dyslexia (i read perfect but mix **** up when writing/typing) its all jumbled and useless…and i have the problem ALOT less when typing

p.s. i goto Heights High School in wichita, kansas, usa

I noticed that you said you “would be” chastised for using it. Does this mean that you haven’t actually tried using your laptop in high school?

If you did and you were chastised, don’t give up. Talk to your teachers privately and honestly about why you need to use a laptop. If they are reasonable they will make accommodations for you.

Take a look at this site for more information about possible measures you can take: http://www.dyslexia-parent.com/IDEA.html.

I would suggest brining this up to the officials at your highschool and requesting that you be allowed to use your laptop as a learning tool. My guess is that they are concerned about the laptop being a distraction to you or to other students. If they are unwilling to accept a computer, you can suggest a thinkpad or another wordprocessor only type computer (which then can input your notes to your laptop) or request that you be assigned a note taker. Approach this from the perspective that you have a difficult time taking readable notes and are concerned about your studies. Many schools will (or will have to) work with you to allow for or supply the accomodations you need for success in school.

All of the schools I attended were required by law to provide accomodations for students–tutors, note takers, computers, etc.–who had “learning problems.”

you will have the skill to do it, the male voices do no longer stop coming up till late 20’s and early 30’s. What you should do isn’t injury your self attempting without understanding what and the thank you to do it. hit upon a voice instructor which could help you with workouts which will help you to get entry to those severe notes returned.

my high school let us bring laptops to take notes, but i guess it depends on all high schools.

Do a petition? Go write a letter to the authorities, or form a group and write a letter to the principle, authorities, etc.
