You usually aren’t able to chose teachers in H.S. (like you can in college) which is a shame because the only reason I have probably enjoyed my classes and done so well in college is because of the feedback I have gotten about the teachers from people who had taken them previously.

Let them know how important it is for you to do well in this class, and especially when it comes to math, you need a teacher that you can understand and follow their methods. It may come down to you either struggling for an entire semester (or year) in a math class, or actually LEARNING with another teacher that better suits your learning needs.

Everyone learns differently, and it’s a good thing that you’re already noticing that you cannot follow this teacher’s teaching methods. It is important that you find a teacher that better suits your personal learning needs, but also let your counselor know that this isn’t something you are going to make a habit out of. You wouldn’t be requesting it if you didn’t sense a real problem, and also, this is a matter of working towards going to college…every class, every grade, and everything you learn is critical at this point in your academic career.
