Hey, i use to ahve this problem and I always used the same excuse. Tell your counselor that you lunch pd is either to early that you cant eat or you’ll get sick or too late that if you dont eat earlier that you will be sick. This is most of all i can tell you. Good Luck!!!

Let you counselor know that this is based upon a mature decision, and not just based upon you not liking the teacher. Let them know that this is your academic career, and you want to gain as much knowledge as possible from a class.

You usually aren’t able to chose teachers in H.S. (like you can in college) which is a shame because the only reason I have probably enjoyed my classes and done so well in college is because of the feedback I have gotten about the teachers from people who had taken them previously.

Let them know how important it is for you to do well in this class, and especially when it comes to math, you need a teacher that you can understand and follow their methods. It may come down to you either struggling for an entire semester (or year) in a math class, or actually LEARNING with another teacher that better suits your learning needs.

Everyone learns differently, and it’s a good thing that you’re already noticing that you cannot follow this teacher’s teaching methods. It is important that you find a teacher that better suits your personal learning needs, but also let your counselor know that this isn’t something you are going to make a habit out of. You wouldn’t be requesting it if you didn’t sense a real problem, and also, this is a matter of working towards going to college…every class, every grade, and everything you learn is critical at this point in your academic career. Take care, and Good luck!

Instead of going to the counselor try asking more questions. Ask your teacher to slow down, or ask him to repeat what he said. Ask your teacher to take time after school to sit down with you one on one and explain it to you. You might not be understanding what he is teaching because he is going to fast, or you just not paying attention because you are to scared to ask for help. Never be scared to ask for help, to have someone repeat there selves, or to ask a question.
