A good skill to have would be notetaking and learning what information to put down and what not to. Many students merely copy the entire chapter or try to write down everything a teacher says.

Also, organizational skills are extremely important. Many kids do not have a system for keeping track of what assignments are due and when. They end up losing work or turning it in late for this reason.

I think the most important study skill for a 7th grader is organization. Having materials when they need specific materials, getting papers to and from school, remembering they have a test, being able to locate their notes etc….

It is hard to say which is more important, because knowledge is power. Math and science would be the best answer overall, in my opinion. History is also very important, because if we do not know and understand the past, we are destined to repeat it. Language skills help us become better communicators, which you need throughout your life. Every core subject has something fruitful to offer.
