Should I change schools?

PLEASE ANSWER! TRES IMPORTANT! I moved from London to Yorkshire about a year ago and my mum put me in this quite good looking school (also the closest). Anyway, if you’ve ever moved that far you’ll know how it is. You know nothing about being cool there and it’s alot harder to fit in. So, I had a completely miserable year 9, but I scraped through it.

Now I’ve just started year 10, chosen my options, and one of the few subjects that would have been a career choice (Drama) is just doing basics that I learnt years ago at my old school. And is full of pupils who took it as an easy way out and just don’t bother to do any work. I love Drama more than anything and there is a much better school that specialises in Drama a bit further away.

But I’m starting my GCSE’s this year, so I’m not sure if I should ask if I can move for fear my other subjects should suffer.

So should I sit through year 10 and be bored out of my skull and not get any good marks or should I move schools and try there???

If you’re really serious about drama then I suggest that you change schools if you can, but only if your a hundred per cent sure that this other school provides better drama classes. I’m saying this because years 10 and 11 are really important years. Your GCSEs stick with you for life and they are the building blocks of all the qualifications you may get in the future. Since you’ve just started your GCSE years, if you want to change schools then do it NOW while you can, I don’t think your other subjects will suffer that much because you’ve only just started year 10 and in year 10 you start learning whole new courses, so in my opinion its the perfect time to move because if you do it halfway it will seriously affect all your other subjects.

By the way, I have experience of not being able to learn because of morons in the class annoying the teacher making it impossible for the people who WANT to learn to learn, so yeah, take my advice and GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!! Otherwise you’ll have to REVISE AND REVISE endlessly at home to get the marks you want. Face it your better off not even going to school then. Go to a school where you can learn what you want happily and end up with great results due to support from school as well as home revision.

Hope this helps!

No, I think you should stay their and work through your problems. Normally the 9th graders get picked on a lot. Just think you will be in 10th grade. You have probably made friends and so on. Maybe you could take or find drama classes. Never know what happens. But if you feel in your gut that other school is better then go for it. You only live once and sometimes you need to take that chance.

If you really love drama, then I think you should move. I dont think your other subject will suffer that much, a lot of new students at my school are fine in their subjects and some came in year 10.

what are GCSE’s. And if you feel that you aren’t getting a proper education because you are not being challenged then I say yes go to another school.
