Please tell me how any of this makes sense.?

I just checked my grades for math class on line.. i am a good student in math and i get straight a’s in all of my classes… math is normally my best subjecyt.. we have a new teacher this year who tested us on out binders.. she gave a quiz like on september fourth what was sample problem number 6… dunb stupid questions that was to check if we were taking notes.. i got a 20 on this test out of a hundred because first of all there were only 5 questions so each one was worth 20 points and second of all because the things that she was teaching us are things that we have known sice 3rd grade.. im not going to take notes on something i already know.. and by he way i got a hundred on the actual math quiz.. now ive gotten all one hundreds except this one 20 and now i have a freaking 79 percent because i messed up on one BINDER test.. that doesnt even have to do with math…. how could she bring my grade down that much when the test didnt even have to do with the subject. thats ridculous.

Wow. Were you the only one who had complaints about this? If not then maybe you can confront her about this explaining how remembering a sample question won’t help you on the test. Its the students’ fault if they don’t take notes and don’t pass the test. You clearly understand the material. It may sound dumb but if you really have a problem confront the teacher. If you ask any adult that’s what they would tell you too. GL

Can you retake the test? Hopefully you can…But, as a teacher I can tell you that it’s not too cool when a student refuses to do anything–take notes, move when asked, etc. If you want to get on her good side–so that maybe she’ll let you retake the test–I’d start doing what she asked. Maybe you were placed in the wrong math class. Talk to her. Hopefully you can work things out.

We all end up doing things we think are pointless and stupid at one point or another and another and another (trust me). Just think of this as preparing you for that. I am sure you will be able to bring your grade up by the end of the class. You seem like a very intelligent person. Just take notes the way she wants you too. Frankly, sometimes you just have to suck it up and do it for the grade.

Stupid, I know…but it will help your grade.

Talk to her about it. What she was really trying to do was demonstrate the importance of taking notes, no matter how simple the subject matter might seem. If you can convince her that you’ve learned your lesson and will take notes from now on, I bet she’ll drop that bad grade.

Good luck!
