I’m majoring in psychology right now, but I didn’t know I’d be doing that when I was in highschool so I didn’t do anything additional. To really understand the material you have to have a very open mind..learning about sociology if that is offered in your highschool would help. Anything to do with people, which would be History, Biology, psychology, sociology, gender studies are good classes..reading up on them outside of classes might help. As suggested above you could also take Advanced Placement classes (or credits that would apply to college when you get in) so you’re ahead. If you have any kind of problem it could be enlightening to see a therapist for yourself, even if you don’t have any just for the experience..perhaps you could interview them. Be careful because there are a lot of bad ones out there that don’t really care much about helping and seem to be after money. The good ones will ask the right questions and do “work” on their part to help you as best they can.

Talk to your guidance counselor. They can help you. They will tell you what classes that they offer they will help you and what classes to take in college. If you live near a college, see if they are dual enrollment. Many of the community colleges offer this program to the junior and seniors of the local high schools. This way when you transfer to be bigger colleges you already have a start on the courses. Good Luck
