OMG I’m super scared of my first day of High School! Help plz!?

In 3 days (next Monday) i’m going to be going to my first day of high school. I am pretty much a preppy sort and i was fairly popular in middle school but since i’m going to a high school i’m not zoned for i don’t know many people. My mom says I’ll be fine because i’m social and i ALWAYS make new friends. I’m also going to be active in drama and hopefully cheerleading (if i make the squad) but i am still afraid of being a social reject and just over-all not doing well. Any tips or words of reassurance to help me? They would be greatly appreciated!!! πŸ™‚

hey again full_of_questions!

this is going to be a long answer… lol.

don’t you even worry about high school! by the sound of things, it seems you’ve got a pretty good group of friends, and you’re outgoing. the fact that you’re going to be involved in activities like cheer and drama is great! i did cheer my freshman year, and i seriously made so many friends! it’s really cool because it allows you to make friends with people in other grades. be sure not to stick to just freshman because then you’re missing out on a lot of great people who have been through all the stuff you’re about to experience over the next four years. and if you’ve never been a social reject, chances are you’re not going to start being one. main thing? as everyone else has said, don’t lose your identity. you’ve got to be your own person no matter what. as long as you’re happy with who you are and how you act, you’re going to be satisfied. confidence is key.

i say this as someone who enjoyed all four years of high school, was involved in a bunch of stuff… and just so happened to be student body president. πŸ™‚

have a GREAT year! you’re going to be fabulous!

and keep me posted on how you’re doing. πŸ˜€

Holy crap I still have 30 days left of summer. you start early. um i’;m going into 9th grade too, but the junior high is the same building as the highschool and I had 3 highschool classes. It might be because it is a small school, but high school is pretty easy here. just keep your schedule with you and stick with a good friend that is in most of the same classes. Personally, I know almost all of the seniors and all the freshman and a few in between, and unless your a super ultra loser in a huge school with no friends then you probably will not get eaten, picked on, or given wedgies Maybe try joining a sport, or classes with more than freshman in them. that way you can make some friends from older grades, get to know people. That will be much easier Also, maybe in your school it is really hard to join stuff since there are so many people, but if you work hard, the more things you are in the better. I am in student council, starting tailback of the football team, history club, spanish club, spanish 2, honors chemistry(11th graders take chemesty, so i’m kinda high up for a freshman),band, 10th grade math, and have a lot of friends from all of the grades.class rank: 4

you sound like a great girl. When you get to school, just soak it all in and always have a smile on your face. In all your classes the first, make sure to say hi to at least one other student because they are probably going through the same thing as well and you guys could become buddies. Just don’t feel intimidated because when you become a senior in high school, you will be laughing and giggling when you think about how frightened you were when you were a freshman and you will have those same feelings when you start college. Just relax and have a blast! Your freshman year is always the most scary, but don’t be afraid.

The only good thing about being a teen is that you grow out of it.

Having said that, I hope some of your friends are also attending this new school so you won’t be completely alone. You will find that the people in the higher grades will already have formed cliques, and those who have transferred in masses from the lower grades will also be grouped in cliques.

For the first few days, I’d just observe, then you can start approaching some of your classmates with overtures of friendship.

Well…congrats..finally a high school chick..umm well Im a junior (well starting on Monday) and I felt the exact same way…but seriously its a great thing that you want to be involved because when I joined the cheer squad freshman year, it was the best thing I could have done. It builds relationships with friends, and makes skool ALOT less boring..Yur mom is probably right ..u’ll make friends super fast..Trust me, you wont be the only freshman in the skool..Others are scared for the same thing. But thas the great thing about being a freshman..”you get to start FRESH” be who you want to be…so advice…

get involved..sports..clubs..

Have fun..(but not too much lol)

and enjoy high school (it goes by fast)

Good luck in cheer tryouts..*the BEST SPORT ever lol*

I was rather unpopular in high school but again I didnt care, my few close friends were enough

why do you care so much??, in high school you should focus on being able to make friends(I was able to make friends I just didnt wanna be friends with every jock, dork, etc. out there, I was picky about my friends and still am)

you’ll be fine just dont be shy

as corny as it may sound, just be yourself and you’ll be fine, cause if you try to act like something that your not, you might end up making friends who don’t really like you for you, and tha’t not what you want. act like yourself, and you’ll make friends with people who want to be your friend for who you really are, which is ideal.

there’s always gonna be a little tension, see, high school is kinda like a social experiment, just don’t let it get you down.

(don’t worry too much about what other people think, just worry about accomplishing your goals) the world is full of people ready to tell you your not good enough, or cool enough, or whatever…everything you do, make sure you do cause you wanna do it.

good luck…best wishes

High school may seem like a big deal, but it’s not. Seriously, don’t stress over it. There are much bigger things to worry about than the first day of high school.

there are alot of people who aren’t popular but still made it. I’m going to be in high school too in a couple of weeks. don’t worry. I’m kind of normal type, not very popular, and not a reject either and I am scared of high school too

dont worry… your not alone. it is a natural reaction to be a little freaked… but just remember even the seniors and juniors are a little nervous about going to school. EVERY freshman is nervous. dont worry so much… find some people that go to your school and use them as a crutch during school to feel more comfortable. i know that sounds horrible… but you need close friends that can allow you all to band together.
