Get the syllibus from the teacher (she should have one and if she doesn’t, then she is a nit-wit and shouldn’t be teaching anyway).

If the topics that she is teaching don’t seem enough for her, talk to her teacher about extra work she can do, or even talk to the principal and complain.

Remember that the US education system has done down in the last 10 years. They are more interesting in teaching to increase test scores and not for real life. They teach to the lowest common denominator and i’m sure your daughter is at a much higher level than that.

If you don’t want to home school or can’t then make the school move your daughter up a grade or two. If they give you any trouble remind them that public school isn’t free. It costs several thousand dollars a year to educate a child and if they don’t want to lose the money your daughter brings then they should cooperate with you. Do some research on line to find out how much the school your daughter goes to gets per pupil so you can throw the exact number out there if needed. For example the public school down the street from me gets $5,000.00 for every child that is counted on ‘count day’.

Check to see if the school has a Gifted and Talented program. Also, if she’s bored and is above grade level, check to see if the school will let her move a grade ahead.

some school districts are ahead of other ones….see if you can bump her up. I teach first grade in the inner city and our kids our usually a little lower than other kids in the suburbs…..mostly because of lack of parental involvement

Go to the principal and push her up a grade or two depending onhow far e\advanced she is.. Now is the time to do it because she is young and can make friends easier.
