i had that same problem a year ago. children tend to ignore these activity when they come home from school so we need to be ingenious and creative. I devised a way to make them do their exercises. I also altered their schedule.
I let them do their exercises before they can watch the tv for an hour before dinner. be hard on them but set a limit. use the reward system.

Put him on lecture.
Be hard on him but don’t over pressurised him.
Show him that you are serious about him doing the exercises.

Give him nice rewards for doing his work!My younger niece is very motivated by rewards so i guess it should work.
