The good news is most teachers don’t give much homework the first week of school. They usually use that time to remind students of what they learned last year. You will have more homework than you would have had just because the teachers will expect you to keep up with current homework plus any classwork you may have missed. Your school handbook will tell you how much time you have to fulfill the assignments that were given last week. My son’s school gives three days. So you could spread out the extra work over two or three nights to make it more manageable.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. Just try to hit the ground running.

A really good idea would be to go to your school’s website to get the assignments you missed or call the school and have your assignments given to you today so you can do them over the weekend. It would help you get to where you need to be in order to feel more comfortable on Monday, since you’ll be doing the work before your first week starts.

Good luck, and I hope you have a great year!

1. don’t be nervous – these things happen

2. don’t be too worried about being behind – most classes, even as a sophomore, don’t get started too deeply in the first week.

3. have a doctor’s note about you being sick

4. if you can, try to talk to the teachers before class (even if just a few minutes) to let them know what is going on. If you can talk to them more than just before class, you can discuss with them what their policy relating to making up missed work is.

5. find someone who appears to be doing well in each class and ask them to help you catch up.

A friend of mine missed the first week or so of her _senior_ year recently due to a family member who was dying. So these kinds of things happen to all sorts of people.

dont panic, it will be ok, this happened to me one time to and mine was when i 1st started high school, so i had to walk into a class full of new people too.

when u thnk about it, if u were in the class since the start and someone new walks in to join the class how would u make them feel. u would talk to them and u would make them feel welcome wouldnt u.

it always seems worse when u are the other person, but trust me, no one will be thinkin about it like u are, so just go in, dont be nervous, and just talk to everyone, and after an hour or so u will be wondering what u were so nervous about

Hmm, that is very terrible I hate missing first day of school but anyway you could just be more confident think positive and always wear a smile when you enter the school. You could also be more polite and be friendly because me I just like having a lot of friends. And by the way don’t forget your excuse slip hehe…..

so did my brother…

dont worry just relax the first days are usually spent in introduction getting to know students, teachers and the subjects.

not all students attend school as soon as it open, you will see there will be a few students like you. all you have to do is ask one or two of your class mates to help you catch up with the course, it will take 3-4days and you will be at the same class level.

do not concern- clarify this to the college group. they could desire to comprehend. Ask your instructors that might actually assist you in catching up progressively with missed assignments. they are able to even supply you a ruin & basically enable some assignments pass, in the event that they don’t seem to be too important. you have quite some time to get caught up- 3 years of highschool to pass.

I totally understand your situation I missed an entire first month of school my freshman year because we moved!

Just tell your teachers and see if she can ask someone or you can ask someone to get notes from ( just photocopy them much faster then copying them)

Good luck …its not as bad as you think I did just fine
