Math help!?

Here’s the 2 math problems:

1.) 8/12 – Y = 8/96

Y= ?

2.) Right triangle

a = 60°

b = 90°

c = ?

Thank you!

#1. You need to solve for Y, so Y needs to be on one side of the equation, and the numbers need to be on the other. As long as you do the same thing to both sides of the equation, you are fine. So, start by subtracting 8/12 from both sides:

8/12 – y – 8/12 = 8/96 – 8/12

on the left side of the equation, the 8/12’s cancel each other out, and you are left with:

-y = 8/96 – 8/12

Now reduce the right side of the equation. Get the denominators the same (the bottom numbers) by multiplying the 8/12 x 8/8 (8/8 is the same as 1, so it doesn’t change the equation. That makes the top number 8×8, and the bottom number 8×12, or makes the fraction 64/96. So your new equation is

-Y = 8/96 – 64/96. Do the math on the right side, and you get

-Y = -56/96

Now multiply both sides by -1 to reverse the signs, and you get Y=56/96. Now reduce the fraction – I leave that to you.

#2 = RULE: the sum of all angles in a triangle = 180 degrees. If you already know 2 of the angles, the third one is 180 minus the other two angles.

Hope this helps, and you understand.

9/12-y = 8/96

-y = 8/96 – 9/12 ( move the fraction to one side, when you move, you have to change sign)

-y = 1/12 – 9/12 (simplify the first fraction, so both fractions can add)

-y= -8/12

y= 8/12 (divide both sides by -1)

y=2/3( simplify)

2/ in a triangle, the sum of three angles is always 180 degree

since A^=60, B^=90,

and A^ + B^+ C =180

=> 60 + 90 + C^ =180

150 + C^ =180

C^= 180 – 150 (move 150 on the other side, so you have to change sign)

C^ = 30
