I would not advise you to come to Mauritius. You may call me unpatriotic but being a Mauritian myself I can tell you that those who are here, including teachers and graduates in general, are finding ways and means to get away from this country. It’s getting bad and it is very likely it will get worse in the years to come. Inflation is on the rise and the loss of preferential trade agreements with the EU threatens to make the economic situation worse. If you can go without being paid much while enjoying your job as a teacher, Mauritius is a socially and politically peaceful and stable country where you can live happily. However, if you want to get better opportunities in money terms, I’m sorry to say it bluntly, but you’ll have to look elsewhere. Hope I didn’t scare you 🙂
