I’m going to assume that you mean freshmen year of college. It depends on how many classes you have all in one block of time. If you have a lot of classes close together time-wise, you might need something a little bigger, but it depends on your profs because for some classes you ain’t even gonna touch the books while for others, the profs will make you bring the book along. I actually will have a ton of Tuesday and Thursday classes this semester; so, I will be using my backpack and a tote that I can fit a couple of books into. This means that I will not look like a freak by carrying around 2 backpacks filled up with books, and it also means that I will not have to run back to my apartment to trade books in for my next class between each class.

Well for HS just go to AE for a tote, if you are in college i would assume you need a bigger tote. If you are a college freshman I’d get a backpack instead.

Absolutely. Most people keep their long term notes in their dorms and keep one notebook with them plus a calculator, etc. Unless the professor requests it, keep your books in your room, too. That way you don’t need to worry about people stealing your books to sell for cash.
