It can be.. but it also doesn’t have to be. Make sure you do your research. Private schools don’t have to have the same testing done to see how well students are doing, so they can claim that their students are high achievers. (which they might be – but remember, the more students they have the more money they have.. its a business).

Talk to parents at the schools and see how the students feel/perform in the school. Some publicly funded schools are going to actually be much better than some private schools.

I am teaching in a public school right now, and a lot of parents are switching their children out of one class and into another because of the teacher. Where as, both of the teachers are great but I think the students in the one class that they are taking them out of will do better because their peers (the other students) are at a higher level. When these students are at a higher level, it helps to bring the other students up as well.

Nothing wrong with either system, just be sure to do your research. πŸ™‚

I’m from Oregon (America… not sure where you’re from), and my opinion is that it varies GREATLY from city to city, state to state, even in the same city, especially bigger ones. There are 4 public high schools and 1 private high school in the city I live in, and I go to a public school that I absolutely love. It’s in a richer part of town, so despite the extremely low budget Oregon, and generally American, schools have, we have a bit extra to fund more extra classes. But I think my school is an exception. It was rated #500 something on the list of 1000 best HS’s in America. The HS across town though, is not good at all, but not exactly bad I guess. The private high school is not any harder or better of an education than my public school, but costs about $5,000 more.

The general idea here is also that private schools are for really rich people, and generally (and almost truthfully) all the students do drugs since they’re richer. But of course, that’s not always true. You can get an awesome education from America’s public schools, it depends how much effort/time the individual puts into it.

No it is not, we need a voucher system so the parents can pick a good school to educate their children. We can send them to private schools where they get a better education and it would cost less. People think private school is expensive, but it cost a lot less that what we spend per student at the public level. In this country we look at education different than any other social program. In other programs we give the money to people, in education we give it to the seller, not the buyer. It would be like if we had government grocery stores and gave them the money instead of giving the people food stamps to buy what they want to eat. We would make certain stores open for people in that district and they could go by and pick up their already proportioned amount of food. That is exactly how our education system works. We give the money to the schools and people are told what school to go to by their zip code. If we would just give the money to the parents and let them decide how to educate their children we would save a lot of problems. The people who write these laws send their children to private schools, why shouldn’t we.

I dont know about you,. but here in our country, private education is a LOT better than public.

Unless you go to a public science school or to public schools that have lots and lots of entrance exams before you get qualified. Those kind of public schools make sure that the students who’ll enroll are among the smartest so they make lots of entrance exams.

Otherwise, the general public schools (those that do not have many entrance exams and let any student enroll for free) are not good.

private schools are better because the owners of these school make sure that the quality of their education is good so that their “customers” will stay loyal πŸ˜€

Sometimes it is and some times it is not better. it all depends on both the individual private school and the individual public school.

Public education allows you to meet all groups and adjust to them . Private schools are usually narrow in the backgrounds of their students. Private schools usually have smaller classes. Public schools usually have a wider range of subjects that they offer.

I can only speak for America, however, there is a book that not only explains the plight of public schools in America but sheds light on how they compare to govt. schools in other countries. For a complete and eye-opening answer to your question, read The Conspiracy of Ignorance, by Martin L. Gross. Our teachers today are, sadly, at the bottom of the barrel. They have the lowest requirements and the lowest test scores of other majors. The statistics are staggering and enough to boil your blood. I will not make personal comments that hurt others but I will let Gross’ book explain the facts.
