is 6th grade hard??

I had some of the most amazing teachers, and learned so many interesting things. I had an amazing math teacher, so I actually looked forward to math class, when normally I’m dreading it! And I enjoyed Social Studies/History (w/e u call it) very much.
Some of the work was pretty hard, such as in Science when we were learning the different parts of cells and such. But you shouldn’t be afraid to ask a question! And sometimes people get too technical when learning these things. I would re-read the section and put it in my own words and write down what I thought of.
I had a hard time sometimes with how sometimes people would get in fights and start drama and crap. You don’t know who your real friends are untill someone is spreading around extremely hurtful rumors about you.
If your school has clubs, choose one that interests you! I joined a Musical Theatre club, and had the time of my life!
I also joined 6th grade choir second semester, and I loved it because I love singing and some of my best friends were in choir with me! Now this year choir is one of my classes, and when they sent home a sheet asking if we wanted band, choir or study hall (in my school, if you join choir or band you don’t get a study hall), I chose choir in a heartbeat 😀
Do your homework, listen in class, and never ditch your old friends, but don’t be afraid to make new friends!
(Oh, and cleaning out your locker might be a good idea too. :D)
Good luck!!
1. DONT RUN TO YOUR CLASSES!!! There is no need for you to run at all unless you are extremely late. Running everywhere will just make you seem more like a franticky little 6th grader.
2. Don’t act like your all that just because you’re in middle school now. You really aren’t any of that.
3. Don’t smart off to the older kids, or try to say something to make you look smart or funny. You may be smart in your grade, but most of the older kids are smarter than you. And don’t remind them of the rules or tell them not to be mean or anything, then they really get annoyed. Mostly, if you stay quiet around the older kids, occasionally talking about how you didn’t like this teacher or something, then they will like you and take you under their wing.
4. Don’t try to stand up to any of the older kids. There really aren’t any bullies that take your lunch money or whatever, but some kids do like to use words to get to you. If someone is bothering you, don’t try to act tough and stand up to them, go tell a teacher or write a statement in the dean’s office.
Well there you go, that’s all the stuff I could think of that annoyed me about 6th graders last year. But that was just that particular 6th grade class, they usually aren’t that terribly annoying. 7th graders will be ok with you, cuz they were you last year, but 8th graders seem to get more agitated about 6th graders, so just stay out of their hair. Have fun!
Don’t Worry! I remember I was really scared about going into the sixth grade as well. Just stay positive. There might be highs and lows both socially and academically but if you keep a positive attitude, never give up, and be true to yourself you will be healthier emotionally in the long run. Good luck in school!!! =)
have fun!!

A New Beginning
By, Alisa James age 11
I woke up that Monday morning in sheer fright. Then, when I was getting ready, I felt a sickly quiver trickle down my spine. My dad and I rode to school as I stared out the car window in fright. As I got out of the car, I felt like a knot was wedged into my throat. After that, as I was walking through the middle school doors, I felt the eyes of older children’s eyes piercing into my soul. Even though I was scared, it was a moment of maturity and getting older.
After that, I started walking to my locker. As I peered around the corner, I heard a familiar voice. “Hi, Alisa!” she shouted with excitement. It was one of my old friends from grade school. Then my hands that were once gripped tightly on my back pack began to let go. I was at ease. Then, when I was in tune with everything again, I replied, “Hey, how are you?”
When I was at my classes, all of my teachers were so helpful and kind. They talked us through the whole day. They made Jordan feel like such a safe place to be. They helped me through the day. Then lunch came around. I hung out with my friends and met some new ones, too! “Middle school is such a welcoming place!” I said quietly to myself.
In conclusion, going to Jordan was a big moment in my life, which symbolized getting older. I really enjoyed that day of the new me and older me. It kept getting better!
