Im going into my first year at middle school. People tell me it nots going to be easy. And I have to turn in a book report on my first day at school which is 8-27-07.Im bearly done with the 370 page book. Also I took a class to learn japanese.I chose it because I like japan and the culture. And Im not that good with foreign languages but my other choices were French not that interested in it. So I had only 2 choices (from my parents). Then I have all my other classes. Is there a free period or is that just lunch. Thank you!!!

Middle school is a big shocker for most, myself included.

Realize, though, that it only seems that way because it is your first step into the wild (and often hated) world of stress.

My advice?

1. Survive middle school

2. Take the opportunities given to you and make something out of it

3. Figure out what you do best and what you like most

4. Polish those skills and flaunt those shiny, shiny trophies in high school

It’s not going to be easy – every school year gets a little more challenging. I don’t think you’re going to get slammed from Day 1. The teachers will give the new classes a little time to adjust & then the work will get tougher so gradually, you probably won’t even notice it. Normally, your schedule has a study hall built in, which is a free period, but it’s not for screwing around – use it to get some work done so you don’t have so much homework. Japanese sounds cool – we only had Spanish, French & German to choose from.

Just remember, you’re not the only one new to middle school. I’m sure there are lots of other kids (most, probably) who are just as nervous as you are. Good luck!

Middle school isn’t that bad. Just wait till you get to high school…. then your gonna wish you were back in middle school… =/ but anways… you should get workin on that book report. Don’t put it off till the last minute. That’s the last you want to do. Because you’ll be all stressed out and you won’t get as good a grade. So work on it little by little everyday, make sure you finish it on time, and you should have nothing to worry about.

Wow… they teach foreign language in middle school ?? I didnt get foreign language till my freshman year in high school…. so i guess that means your ahead of the game. That’s a great thing !

I’m not sure if you will have a free period. Not all middle schools have that. All i had was lunch… =/

But yeah.. don’t worry. Middle school’s really not as bad as it sounds. It’s actually pretty fun. =)

When I started middle school, I had so much fun! There’s more activities and clubs to do, and you aren’t stuck with the same people all day long. If you’re elementary school is combining with another elementary to make up a middle school, you’re going to do great! You’ll meet many more friends.

i’m going to high-school. first of all, calm down. middle school isn’t as big of a deal as everyone plays it out to be.

if you have to finish reading that book, break it apart everyday. say you have 2 weeks that you want to read your book, and another week for the report, break it apart. if you have 200 pages left, read about 14 pages a night for two weeks. then, do your report.

in my school, our free period is lunch. we used to have a class called flex, but when i got to middle school they took it away because kids were skipping it.

you sound like you want to learn your japanese, so you should have a lot of fun, and an easy time with your class about japan.

just relax, and enjoy these two years while they’re here, because at the end you’re not going to want to leave.

good luck!

hey don’t stress out. Just think of Middle school as practice for High school. Those are the years you really need to worry about. Even though I am telling you this, you still want to get good grades so just push hard and don’t stress. Do the best you can and have fun and believe me you will succeed. p.s the reason your teacher made you do the report is most likely because she wants to see who is a good student and who will actually do it. so take my advice.

sincerely,

Jessica

You have nothing to worry about. It seems scary at first, but you’ll find that the classes and teachers aren’t that mean and remembering your schedule and locker number are at the least of your worries. As for the foriegn language, you picked one of the most diffcult to learn in the world! But let me reasurre you that it will seem simpler when you have learned some of it. Relax! Middle school is a time for new opporitunities!

I’m going into high school, and first of all, DONT WORRY SO MUCH! 🙂 Middle school (Junior High for me, I’m from Canada) is probably going to be a piece of cake for you. It’s a change for the better, and personally, I had a lot more fun then I did in Elementary. It will be different, not gonna lie to you about that, but you get to grow up a lot and start to look into what you wanna do when you get into high school, college, whatever. It really expands your horizons!

Well I’m going to high school, and to be honest middle school isn’t that bad. Seventh grade is pretty easy, but eighth grade is one of the hardest years of school. Make sure you get involved, but also make sure you can handle any activities that you have. And my school had a 40 minute lunchh and a free perioud/study hall at the end of the day.

Depends on your class schedule. Some kids have a free study hall period while others that choose to take an additional class don’t. Yep… you’ll get lunch too!
