I taught in a high school of over 4,000 students and ran an evening high school with over 4,300 students.

Relax even though the school is large you will probably have a number of the same students in your classes.

I would suggest that you go to school the first day and see if there us a floor plan. Usually there is some logical order of rooms. If you have your class assignment before you go you should find your classrooms as well as the cafeteria and the gym.

The teachers re not any meaner or less mean because the school is large.

You will probably have between 5 and 8 different teachers who will based on their personalities treat you with different degrees of “meanness” or with fairness. ( I couldn’t resist the joke about meanness).

Most large schools will require some type of identification that you must carry with you. Some actually have metal detectors.

If the school is overcrowded there may be two or more sessions. Freshman usually get the latest session.

A large school has many advantages. There is the ability to have many different types of classes and you may eventually be able to take one or more classes geared to your specific interests. There is also the strong possibility of having many clubs and teams. That is a good place to make friends.

Come prepared to class with the required materials such as notebooks, pens, pencils, ruler and do not forget your homework. Arrive on time to class and have an excellent attendance record. Study and review your assignment and classwork. Ask questions if you do not understand something by raising you hand and waiting to be called upon,

Remember what is new to you is also new to others. I would guess that there well over 1,000 freshman in a school of 4,000. Do not let numbers scare you. You may also make friends on your bus if that is your method of transportation.

I hope that this message is helpful.

Good luck.

PS If seats in a classroms are not assigned take a seat someplace in the middle, not the front or the back.

Well I just came back from my Freshman Orientation so I can tell you a lot =) I was scared at first to go into the high school because its described as the maze. It has ramps, narrow hallways that almost always lead to a dead end, and the school itself is pretty dark. Anyways, its almost impossible to be alone in high school mainly because there are usually people who are way below you in the “high school chain” I made a few friends, and got closer to the ones I had before that. I loved all my teachers, they were really nice and they made a few jokes here and there. I’m now actually excited for the first day of school. Have a blast! I know I will ^_^

if youre going to be a freshman the best thing you can do is to keep your head down for a while, i mean lay low, make friends with the students in your classes that are also freshmen, but most of all, dont get cocky or be rude to the juniors and seniors, because they have earned the right to do what they want, and by the time you are a junior/senior you will have too. be nice, get your work done, and be respectfull to your teachers. if you act polite, and show a little respect to the juniors/seniors and you get lost they will more than likely atleast point you in the right direction. also teachers know where the other classrooms are so ask them.

First of all, remember that the rest of the freshmen at the school will be in the same boat. All of the 9th graders, along with transfer students, will be finding their way from class to class and dealing with the same worries as you. Making the transition to high school is a big deal…. it’s normal to be nervous. Every teacher in the school will understand and be willing to help you as long as you’re not afraid to ask questions. Just take a deep breath, be yourself, and don’t forget to be open to new experiences. I predict that after a week, you’ll feel like you’ve gone to that high school forever!

i grow to be thoroughly new to my intense college too and did no longer be responsive to a unmarried soul there. i grow to be an absolute wallflower the 1st couple of weeks of school. have faith me, it DOES get extra perfect ๐Ÿ™‚ by employing the top of the 1st semester, I had made a brilliant close circle of acquaintances, and that i certainly like it right here. i pass to be a junior this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, and that i’m nevertheless on the comparable college…with the comparable acquaintances and extra! My advice is to hold close in there, and stay confident! If i could desire to do it back, i could be extra friendly interior the initiating, positioned myself obtainable extra, and not be so fearful of being on my own. it could have saved me fairly some rigidity on the initiating of freshman 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. good luck!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Pay attention in your classes. Stick with friends, but make it a point to meet and interact with new folks too. Join some clubs and actually do something with them. Stay the heck away from the jerks, they’ll point themselves out within a week. Good Luck.

As soon as you find a group of friends, you won’t even think about how the school is so big. It might be overwhelming at first, but you just get use to it. Then when you do you’ll be like, “Oh, it’s not as big as I thought”

I’m going to be a freshman to! Forget popularity…trust me…i’m popular and it’s not the best thing in the world. Especially if you are in a school that big, you could get in alot of trouble. the only way i’m popular though is being myself…people like me because i bring out their inner- child!

i went to a really big high school too. my school had 4500 students

the good thing about big schools is that popularity doesnt really matter. there are so many people that everyone finds a group to hang out with and be friends with,
