if I have a free period & i’m a freshman so I cant use commons, where do I go?
I was sitting in the hallway & got in trouble
so I’m confused?

Ask a teacher where you’re supposed to go before your free period. At my school, if you have a free period, you have to go to study hall. Or, if you have a full lunch period, you have to stay in the cafeteria or outside. You can’t go in the buildings. We have a large campus, almost like a college campus. Basically you can’t hang around in the halls because teachers will think you’re causing trouble or distracting other students.

There were a couple days last year when I had a free period instead of math, because I was the only junior in the class, and all the seniors were somewhere else (field trips, testing, graduation stuff). It was during my school’s first lunch period (I had second lunch though), so I would just go to the cafeteria and hang out with my friends who had lunch then. Another option would be to go to the library or computer lab, or go sit outside if it is a nice day.

First off, instead of asking random people on Yahoo Answers, I highly recommend finding your school counselor and asking them about helping you with your schedule, and answering your questions about discipline and school rules and regulations. That sounds wicked confusing to me… if you’re not allow to use “common areas” then what can you do with a “free period?”
Do you mean study hall? I’ve never heard of a Freshman in high school getting a “free” period. Seniors had “free periods” where I came from, and they always arranged them at the beginning or end of a school day so that they could sleep in late or leave early. If it’s not too late, see if you can’t add something to your schedule to fill it up. Add an extra phys ed class, study another language, join chorus, add a study hall, don’t just settle for a “free” period. Only losers who smoke pot in the bathroom are excited about a “free period” in the middle of the day.

Why did they give a freshman a free period?
Just go to the library.

Maybe go to the library or Gymnasium. During my free periods I would always do that. I’d go to the library if I had a paper or homework that needed done and if not…I would go to the gym..and play around basketball or some things like that.
