If a school advertises themselvs as being bilingual, and turns out it really isn’t. Is it against the law?

Is it against the law? What do I do? My rents paid so much just so now I study completely in spanish with no classes in english (this is in puerto rico so spanish and english are official languages) so like the basic classes (except history and spanish and italian) were supposed to be in english but the teachers are discussing the classes in spanish! sure the books are in english but the class discussions are what really matter! So what do I do? This is very urgent as i am a new student in a new school in freshman year of high school. Is this illegal what they did? advertising as a bilingual school when they’re not?

As much as you don’t like to hear it the school according to their definition is bilingual. They have textbooks in English and the teachers may be using some English in class.

I agree with you on another level. That the way that you describe the school does not present a good bilingual program.

Suggestions:

1. Have your parent go to the school and complain.

2. Go to another school.
