I need help with a back to school art project idea for third and fourth graders?
I have a mixed group of third and fourth graders and I need a first day art project so that we can hang them up to decorate the classroom. Any ideas

why are teachers always on answers looking for help with their job??? this is scary. my 16 year old got suspended for correcting the teacher. the teacher used improper english, my daughter caught the mistake and was suspended. what is happening to our school systems??? what is happening to the universities so called teachers graduate from that they can not plan a lesson???

I love to cut out large puzzle pieces from construction paper so that all the pieces fit together to make a larger shape that is representative of that particular class for the year. Then each child draws a self portrait in crayon on the piece of paper. Once the crayon drawing is done have the kids do a water color wash over it (each student should pick their own color). Once the pieces are dry put the pieces together and hang it up. (It shows class unity they all contribute to the better good of the classroom community).

Check out this book: The Out of Sync Child Has Fun by Carol Stock Kranowitz. It has tons of information and suggestions of activities for children of all abilities. Anything you can do with textures is great… focus on her strengths, not her lack of vision. Making things with macaroni, beads, etc… anything that can be held and manipulated. I bet anything that your “typically developing” kids would enjoy would be great for her as well. You just have to modify the activity so that she can be successful too!

If you color on a peice of paper with colored crayons. Make sure thats its ahrd coloring. Then color over the pic with a black crayon…very very hard with the black! Then take siccors and scrape off the black crayon int a design. then you will have a cute picture!

i’d say go with the season thing . i mean do like trees&&flowers&&dark leaves. or. i kno i use to love it when we would cut out different parts of the body color them and then hook them together. u kno like u put a hole through the shoulder&& the place where it connects. then put string through it and tie it so it’ll move.

Have them draw pictures of what they did over summer vacation and write a single sentence about it.
