I’m going into High School this year. Does anyone know anything about the “block system”?

Good tips:
1. You are there to learn. Take that seriously.
2. Don’t be one of the students whose name the teacher learns right away. Those are usually the troublemakers.
3. If you do not understand something, go to the teacher for extra help. The teacher will not consider you to be an idiot. It is a smart person to realize when he/she is lost.
4. Stay off the cell phone. You only think that you have it hidden. Even if the teacher doesn’t say anything, its use is noted. Use of a cell phone in class is an insult to the teacher.
5. Don’t cut class. The only time that a teacher appreciates it when a student cuts is when that student is a troublemaker (see suggestion 2).
6. Do ask questions and/or volunteer answers. Teachers like that as long as you also let others do the same. However, raise your hand first.
7. Teachers are human. They will make mistakes on occasion. Correct the mistakes using a polite question rather than taking a “hey dummy” attitude. The teacher will like and respect you for that.
As for general high school tips, dont do anything stupid, and you’ll be fine 🙂
In my case, I took 3 years of foreign language (a year more than the requirement in texas) and now I do not have to take any foreign language in college.
AP classes (when you get farther along in your high school years) are worth it, take the AP test if you are sure you know the material.
For example:
Mon.: Math 4 hrs; Science 4 hrs
Tues: English 3 hrs; Pys Ed. 2 hrs; Art 2 hrs
Wed: History 4 hrs, Language 4 hrs
etc..
