Conversations will fall into place from there.

Instead of worrying about how to talk to this classmate, just be at ease with yourself and talk just as you might with someone you know pretty well. You can smile, laugh together, and be friendly to help put *both* of you at ease.

I know school can be a social jungle, but being kind and warm to someone new is just a nice way to be in this world. I’m sure your classmate is probably wondering the same things and will be so relieved to find out that you are a nice, friendly, welcoming guy!

You can always talk about things that interest both of you…what are each of your favorite movies? Do you have any pets at home? You can always just be perfectly honest and say, “we have never really had an opportunity to talk much…I look forward to getting to know you a bit better!”

By just pretending that you have an outgoing streak within you, you’ll soon find that social barriers get dissolved between the two of you and that conversation flows easily.

This sets the tone and takes the social tension away.
