Unfortunately, it’s a requirement. So there is no use whining and moaning about it. Serves no purpose.

Do what you can, and get through the class. Can’t be more than 45 minutes of learning to tough it out.

Or, if you’re REALLY so adament against going to gym class and running, get a doctor’s note. It’s the only way you’re gonna have any kind of excuse because the “oh, I’m sick to my stomach, I have a headache” excuse only goes so far before any person with any kind of brain can see that you’re just making up illnesses.

Although I can’t imagine why any sane doctor would write a perfectly healthy, normal female an excusal note for gym class.

I hated gym class too. I got through it because I had a friend to comiserate with, but I still participated even though I was self-concious and loathed every minute of mile-running and dodgeball. Make a friend in class and tough it out together. Otherwise, the best advise I can give to you is the advice I was given for the exact same situation: buckle down and suck it up.

It’s tough love advice… but honest from the heart. Keep that in mind. There are worse things than gym class. Get through it with a grin. It builds integrity. Sure as hell beats whining about it.

I hated gym class in middle school. I was neither fat, short, nor ill. For some reason, I always missed baskets in basketball, ran the slowest in relay races, and was the first to be out in dodgeball (those horrible years).

Now, in high school, I can deal with gym class twice a week. It’s a lot harder because we play stuff like volleyball (I hit the ball and it goes one foot) and we have to do pushups, but the teacher marks you on trying and doing what everyone else is.

My advice is, you don’t have to enjoy gym. Think of it as something you have to do. If you don’t run really fast, try running in place at home (this never helped me). If you can’t touch your toes, watch ballet stretches on expertvillage and do them for a few days (this worked). If you can’t play dodgeball, there is no help. Try to think of other ways to improve.

Gym class should be the worse problem in your life. The exercise is not so bad for you. You can speak privately to your gym teacher and tell him that you are doing the best that you can do and will continue trying but that his constantly telling you to run faster is counterproductive and embarrassing. Say it nicely and respectfully and you have an excellent chance of changing his outward behavior.

Of course you hate gym class. It’s useless. It teaches nothing. What it does do is give some good old boy (or some girl who wishes she was one) a cushy job with lifetime retirment benefits.

Remember this truest of all old, old sayings: Those who can DO; those who can’t TEACH. But it takes someone particularly useless to be a gym teacher. They ususally end up being principals or superintendents–The end of the line in useless professions at public expense.

1. this will only work if she(or he) walks away and doesn’t look or if everybody runs at the same time..

he can’t be every were at once so when she’s(or he) not looking walk but when she is looking run faster… or run right next to somebody whos ok and just fast walk… i worked for me but my gym teach was an idiot

it sounds to me that you just need to try your best to enjoy it. being active is very important. yes i agree it is not fun to run. i hated that part of guy to. some times you just have to do things you don’t like.

i just have to say one thing, what does being fat or not have to do with it. i am heavy and have been most of my life. are you telling me that if i am fat i have an excuse to not like gym more than you do. it sounds to me that you are being a bit judgmental of heavy people to me.

You do not even must truthfully perform fitness center magnificence. Sometimes, all you must do is get dressed on your fitness center garments and just about stand there (besides with the hot-ups). I hated fitness center too, however you must take it to graduate.
